Previously in the Bruce Ferrini collection, where it was dated to the 2nd century A.D., & identified as having a Kharoshti inscription commemorating the gift of the jar to a Buddhist community.

Measurements:

  • Mouth opening inner-diameter:  3 1/2" (89 mm)
  • Mouth opening outer-diameter:  5 1/4" (133.5 mm)
  • Maximum fragment width:  11" (278 mm)
  • Feline seal dimensions:  1 1/8 x 1 1/8" (30 x 30 mm; approximation due to fuzzy border)
  • Body thickness:  3/16-7/16" (5-11 mm)
